Dark crossing was originally written and staged in 1992. It boasted a mixed sex cast of 8, and was Tony Marturano's first play. It was written, produced, directed and starred by him! It was readapted in 1993 for an all female cast.

WICKED GAME was staged in Cambridge and was one of Tony's most successful plays. Plans were made to re-stage the production but they never came to fruition.






1993 DEATH CLOSE UP is the story of Alexandra Devereaux. A high powered business women who owns a fashion magazine, called CLOSE UP.

Alex has everything, cars, money, and love. But Alex's world comes crashing down, around her when her models become the target of a vicious killer, her lover betrays her and a complete stranger tries to take over her company. Pretty soon Alex realises that there is only one person in the world who she can trust implicitly... or can she?

Death close up was the only play to be written by Tony Marturano and directed by his closest friend, Isobella Raffan.





1993 DEFENCELESS is the true story of Joy: a naive and vulnerable young women born and raised in the east end of London.

Joy works in a factory and at home she helps her father care for her disables Mother. Her only ambition in life is to marry and have children.

Whilst in the pub one night she meets and instantly falls involve with Charlie. He is good looking, confident and joy cannot resist his charm. Thus, ignoring the advice of her family and friends, she decides to marry him.

However, long before the marriage Joy discovers the terrible truth about Charlie; he is not capable of "normal" love and that she is merely a possession, his possession. Believing, wrongly, that joy is unfaithful to him, Charlie suffers from bouts of terrible rage and Joy has no defence against his horrifying brutality, until...

This play gives a true and very graphic account of how Joy regains control of her life after being the victim of a cruel and violent husband.




Tony spent a lot of time talking to the real Joy of this play and thus the result was a very accurate documentation of her life. The play went on tour and finished in a nearby town where it was viewed by the real joy whose new family knew nothing of her past.

Joy and Charlie were played by husband and wife; Matt and Marina, of which, Matt can be seen on the photography page of this site.




1995 DECEIVED is the chilling story set in an apartment building, called Heron Heights and around an answering service called Night & Day. Melissa Anderson is a college graduate who takes a job at Night & Day in order to be close to her fiancée', Jason Tyler.

1996 PHENOMENA. Deep dark secrets are revealed an an ancient evil returns to exact its deadly revenege on a rich publisher and his guests in the supernatural thirller that proved to be Tony's most successful play.

It boasted a myriad of special lighting and sound effects and in order to really capture the audience's imagination. Tony, who also staged managed the production, mingled amongst them during the interval, the verdict: "Brilliant!", "Scary!", "Atmospheric!"
