a Diferent Angle magazine had a circulation of 16,000 with an addiitonal 2000+ online readers.
Published by Marturano Enterprises, A Different Angle magazine talked about everyday news and articles but from the angle of everyday folk.
Why, a different angle?
"Well, I'd been publishing a newsletter for quite a few years. It was only two sides of an A4 piece of paper and if featured news from my village store as well as my take on topical local, national and international news articles. Others reported the news, I actually commented on the news, as most of us do when we read or watch a news segment. Generally, it will affect us in some way. I decided to write about it. And it proved quite popular, even more so because it was sometimes, albeit mildly, controversial. So, naturally, when the opportunity arose to edit the local parish newsletter, I was interested because it meant writing for a different audience. The only downside to this was the fact that the Parish Newsletter had been going for quite a few decades and was written in a somewhat formulaic way that, it was brought to my attention, may not be compatible with my own. Enter A Different Angle."

How successful was a Different Angle?
“It was as successful as the stories it published. I knew when I’d really connected with people when the emails started to flood in. It became clear that there was so much many of us think about but often stop short of saying.”
Is a Different Angle still in print?
“The first edition was published in March 2008 and quarterly thereafter until September 2009. It was distributed to over 16,000 homes locally and the online version was read by an additional 2,000 plus but, ultimately, time availability and, of course, money forced me to put the project on hold. a Different Angle was free and thus entirely self-funding (via adverts) but as the recession bit so did advertising for some of our local companies and it simply was no longer viable for me to publish the magazine. Distribution costs alone were starting to run into the thousands.”
What about a strictly online edition?
“I’ve thought about that but I put the success of ADA down to the fact that it was compact and something many read whilst sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea. At the time there was still that mentality where people liked to hold reading matter in their hands. That said, technology and mind-sets have changed so much in the past year or so, who knows what the future may bring. In the meantime, I've started a blog so the plan is to incorporate elemants of a Different Angle."
